Lamongan — Muhammadiyah University of Lamongan (UMLA) officially sent off its students participating in the Community Service Program (KKN) on Thursday (July 31). Eleven students from the Biology Study Program participated in the community service program, with one participating in the Collaborative KKN program.
The departure was symbolically carried out by university leaders on the grounds of the UMLA main campus, witnessed by field supervisors and other members of the academic community. In their remarks, the university emphasized the importance of KKN as part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the aspect of science-based community service.
Biology students participating in this year's KKN will be placed in various villages in Lamongan and the surrounding area. They will be involved in activities relevant to their scientific fields, such as environmental education, utilizing local biological potential, and processing waste into useful products.
"This is a real opportunity for us to apply our knowledge of biology directly in the community. We want to prove that our knowledge can address everyday problems faced by residents," said one of the participating students.
With this involvement, the Biology Study Program hopes that students can bring a positive impact at the KKN location and at the same time be good representatives of UMLA in the community.
