Lamongan, December 18, 2024 – Fifth-semester Biology students, taking the Laboratory Analytical Techniques course, under the guidance of lecturer Putri Ayu Ika Setyowati, conducted an educational visit to the laboratory at Citra Medika Hospital, Lamongan. The event, which took place on Wednesday, aimed to introduce students to the latest healthcare technology and its applications in the workplace.

The Citra Medika Hospital laboratory, equipped with advanced diagnostic technology, is an ideal location for hands-on learning experiences. During the visit, students were introduced to various laboratory examination tools and techniques, such as blood and urine analysis, which play a crucial role in supporting accurate medical diagnoses.

"Through this visit, we want to provide students with a practical understanding of the application of laboratory technology in the healthcare sector. Furthermore, they are encouraged to understand the importance of professionalism in laboratory work," explained Putri Ayu Ika Setyowati, lecturer in the Laboratory Analytical Techniques course.

This activity not only provides hands-on learning experiences but also broadens students' horizons about the importance of technology in healthcare. They were invited to observe how laboratory test data plays a crucial role in medical decision-making.

One student participating in the visit expressed his positive impression, saying, "We usually only learn theory in class. Through this visit, I was able to see how laboratory equipment is used and gain a deeper understanding of the importance of precise and accurate work in this field."

In addition to learning how the equipment works, students also gained insight into various examination techniques, from manual methods to automated methods using modern technology. Laboratory experts explained the working processes of the equipment, from sample collection to analysis, as well as the challenges faced in daily work.

The activity concluded with an interactive discussion session between the students and the laboratory experts. The questions raised by the students covered a variety of topics, such as the efficiency of laboratory technology, occupational safety standards, and career opportunities in the medical laboratory field.

This visit not only provided technical insight but also instilled professional values in the students. By directly observing the laboratory work process, students are expected to be better prepared to face the challenges of the future workplace.

Citra Medika Hospital in Lamongan, as the host of the visit, welcomed this activity. "We are pleased to contribute to student learning. Laboratory technology continues to evolve, and we want the younger generation to understand the importance of innovation in the healthcare sector," said a representative from the Citra Medika Hospital laboratory.

This visit provides Biology students with a comprehensive learning experience, both theoretical and practical. This is expected to enhance their competency as future professionals in the fields of biology and healthcare. Similar activities are planned to continue to support applied learning that is relevant to the needs of the workplace.
