Lamongan—December 10, 2025, fifth-semester Biology students participated in a Laboratory Analysis Techniques Practicum at Soegiri Hospital, Lamongan. This practicum provided valuable experience, as the students learned directly from hospital experts and observed how clinical laboratory analysis is performed professionally.

The activity was guided by Dr. Mirna, Sp.PK, a physician who explained blood cell morphology and its interpretation. She not only presented theory but also demonstrated cell shapes directly under a microscope, enabling students to clearly understand the differences in morphology.

Furthermore, the students received in-depth explanations from Ms. Karmu, Head of the Soegiri Hospital Laboratory. She introduced the working principles of various laboratory instruments, specifically explaining the Sysmex XN-1000, a sophisticated, fully automated hematology analyzer. Students were encouraged to understand the instrument's working mechanism, the analysis process, and even to see firsthand the interior of the laboratory where the instrument operates.

During the session, Ms. Karmu also offered some memorable advice to the students. She emphasized the importance of studying diligently while still young, as college is a valuable asset for the future. "It would be a shame to spend a lot of money and not gain any skills," he said, which was immediately met with nods from the students.

This practicum was also accompanied by Ms. Putri, a lecturer who also guided the students throughout the visit. The practicum was divided into two days, starting on December 9, 2025.

The event concluded with a photo session with the hospital staff and the presentation of souvenirs as a token of gratitude for the learning opportunity. This practicum was one of the most memorable field experiences for the fifth-semester students, as they were able to see the application of biology directly in the workplace.
