Lamongan, July 5, 2025 – Students at the Muhammadiyah University of Lamongan (UMLA) have once again achieved a proud achievement. A team from the Biology Study Program successfully secured funding for the 2025 Student Creativity Program for Exact Research (PKM-RE), organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (DIKTI).

The team is led by Fadhilatutsani Sofialana, with members Ailifia (second semester) and Ain (sixth semester). Under the guidance of Rofiatun Solekha, S.Si., M.Si., they conducted a study entitled "Potential of Turmeric (Curcuma longa) Polyphenol-Based Nanocapsules Integrated with Chitosan-Alginate Biosorbent as Biobactericides for Leaf Blight Disease in Oryza sativa."

This research focuses on the utilization of active compounds in turmeric, developed in nanocapsule form and combined with natural biosorbents. This innovation aims to provide an environmentally friendly alternative solution to address leaf blight disease in rice plants.

The success of the UMLA Biology team in securing national funding is clear evidence that students have significant potential in applied science research and contribute to national food security.
